Welcome Back Valkyries!
On behalf of the Student Government Association, I want to be one of the first to welcome you to our beautiful campus. My name is Ninel Martinez-Macedo and I am so excited to serve as your SGA President for the upcoming year. I hope you have had a chance to rest and enjoy your summer as we get ready for an exciting year ahead. We have so much planned for you, and we hope that you will take time to have fun, make memories, and make the best of every opportunity.
Converse is more than just a place where you will spend your next few years. It is a place where you will meet some of your best friends, share laughs, and most importantly, where you will be able to leave a lasting impact. Our Executive Committee is committed to working together to build a community where your voice is heard, your perspective matters, and you feel at home. Building something together takes time, and we need your help to do it. Our SGA theme for the year is “Building a Better Tomorrow”.
While you are here, be sure to take advantage of all of the resources on our campus. Go to a campus event you have never been to before. Check out an athletic game that you have never seen. Schedule an appointment with career development to help you land an internship or a job that could lead to a career. Take a class you are interested in that might not be your major. There are so many opportunities for you to build a better tomorrow. Your Student Government Association is one place where we are committed to making sure that happens.
So take it all in. Watch the sun set from the Quad. Join a club, or start your own. Know that this is a place where the people care, and the possibilities are endless. Converse is a place where I have grown not just as a student, but as a leader. Because of Converse, I am able to see clearly, decide wisely, and act justly.
It is an honor to serve as your SGA President, and I look forward to working with each of you in the year ahead.
