Cooperative education for elective credit provides an opportunity for students to get full-time, hands-on experience with employers based on specific projects to expand their competency and skill development beyond what an internship provides. Co-ops are paid, full-time work in which students operate in a paraprofessional role to develop career-ready skills. Co-ops at Converse align with industry best practice definitions and guidelines and follow all Department of Labor standards.
CON 414 may only be taken once for a total of 9 credit hours with approval from the Provost. Prior to registering for the course, a written request must be submitted to the Provost outlining the co-op position, how it aligns with academic discipline and/or career goals, and the steps taken to secure a co-op site. Students may work with the Center for Career Development to establish site expectations. Students must be within 3 or 4 hours of completing their major requirements and within their last term.
