This course will introduce students to the ways that yoga can help individuals manage stress and stress related conditions. Class periods will include the practice of yoga (postures, breathing, concentration and meditation) as well as the study of yoga philosophy and what it implies about how stress and stress related conditions best be managed through yoga. In addition, we will look at some of western psychology’s suggestions on how to best manage stress. Please note that in addition to serving as a Psychology elective course, PSY 281 fulfills the following GEP requirements: Health and Wellness, PE activities, and the Non-European/Non-Anglophone GEP requirement.
