MUSICAL THEATRE

Mission - We teach the art of Musical Theatre by providing a dynamic, inclusive environment of experiential learning and scholarship. Students explore this powerful form of storytelling and social engagement with an emphasis on cultural awareness and Musical Theatre’s social impact, with each student receiving individualized training in acting, singing, and dance. We embrace diverse perspectives and artistic risk-taking, building on theatrical tradition and critical thinking, and foster an artistic community that values transformative live performance.

SLO1 -

Students will be able to effectively demonstrate collaborative and organizational skills in a theatrical production setting.

SLO2 - 

Students will be able to demonstrate technical proficiency and artistry in Musical Theatre dance through their participation in studio and/or mainstage performances.

SLO3 - 

Students will be able to analyze song lyrics using Acting technique tools, and develop engaging characters and truthful stories while singing Musical Theatre selections.

SLO4 - 

Students will be able to analyze and understand Theatre’s historical narratives while also reimagining its current social impact by demonstrating cultural awareness and studying its current place in society.

SLO5 - 

Students will be able to articulate their goals in the Musical Theatre industry, identify and hone their individual artist voices, and showcase their unique talents and training as marketable skills.
